The Milestone Hotel distinguishes itself as Kensington's premier boutique residence by combining the intimacy of a 56-room private mansion with 24-hour butler service and a location directly opposite Kensington Palace. Unlike the impersonal grandeur of larger London hotels, The Milestone offers a bespoke experience where no two rooms are alike, and staff memorize your preferences, making it the ideal choice for travelers seeking historic character, quiet luxury, and immediate access to the tranquil expanse of Kensington Gardens.

The Milestone Hotel is a refined retreat that captures the essence of timeless luxury. Situated across from Kensington Palace, it offers a peaceful yet central location, surrounded by the exclusive charm of leafy streets, grand townhouses, and nearby landmarks such as Hyde Park and the Royal Albert Hall. With just 44 rooms, each individually designed with antique furnishings and rich fabrics, it feels more like a private residence than a hotel. Whether you’re staying in the Edwardian-inspired rooms or indulging in the two-story Master Suite, comfort and elegance are guaranteed. Dining at The Milestone offers a range of experiences, from classic British cuisine at Cheneston’s to intimate private dinners in The Oratory, a former chapel. For those seeking a more personalized experience, the hotel’s private health club provides exclusive access to its gym, sauna, and resistance pool. Perfect for families, the residences offer a home-like atmosphere with hotel service, making The Milestone an ideal choice for those seeking a blend of space, luxury, and a central location.

The Milestone Hotel Review – A Hidden Gem in Kensington

Location

A Kensington Classic

Situated in one of London’s most exclusive residential areas, The Milestone is perfect for travelers who prefer a refined, tranquil setting away from the crowds, yet still want to be near top landmarks like the Royal Albert Hall, Hyde Park, and the luxury shops of Knightsbridge and Chelsea. The surrounding streets have an old-money elegance, with grand townhouses, leafy parks, and a peaceful atmosphere that feels worlds away from the city’s hustle

Accommodations

Every Room is Unique

Unlike larger hotels where rooms feel uniform, The Milestone’s 44 rooms, 12 suites, and 6residences are all individually designed. Think rich fabrics, antique furnishings, and intricate details that make each space feel like a private residence rather than a hotel. Some rooms have classic Edwardian charm, while others lean into vintage glamour.

I toured the Master Suite, a two-story retreat with an open balcony, a spacious sitting area, and a luxurious double sofa bed, making it ideal for those wanting a little extra space. Families will love the connecting Deluxe rooms and the residences (2-3 bedrooms) that offer all the comforts of home with full hotel service.

Dining & Exclusive Experiences

A Taste of Timeless Elegance

One of the highlights of my visit was seeing The Stables Bar, which has recently been renovated and now offers twice the space, perfect for an intimate cocktail before heading out for the evening. The hotel’s main restaurant, Cheneston’s, serves classic British cuisine inan intimate, wood-paneled setting. And, for those looking for a special experience, The Milestone offers private dining in “The Oratory”, an intimate, former chapel that seats just eight guests—perfect for an unforgettable evening.

Wellness & Thoughtful Touches

A Personalized, Private Experience

Unlike most city hotels, The Milestone offers a private health club experience—guests can book the gym, sauna, and resistance pool for an hour of exclusive use. It’s these kinds of thoughtful details that make the hotel feel personal and tailored to each guest. One thing that stood out to me was how affordable the residences are compared to similar options in London—starting at £1,500 per night for a three-bedroom, making it an excellent choice for families who want luxury, space, and an unbeatable location.
