Once you've boarded the MS Roald Amundsen, a hybrid electric-powered vessel, and completed check-in, be sure to collect your complimentary expedition jacket. Besides the essential safety briefing, take some time to explore the ship and settle into your cabin.

As we embark on our journey, the captain will deliver a warm welcome address. You'll have the opportunity to enjoy your first of many delectable meals and meet the welcoming members of our Expedition Team.

Today, weather permitting, we'll embark on an exploration of the Eastern Scotian Shelf, where we'll engage in whale watching and seabird surveys. This region holds significant ecological importance, characterized by shallow offshore banks and deep glacially-carved basins.

If the weather remains favorable, we will strive to circumnavigate or even make a landing at Sable Island National Park Reserve. Here, you'll encounter magnificent wild horses and witness one of the world's largest breeding colonies of grey seals.

Just to the east of Sable Island lies the impressive underwater canyon known as the Gully. Covering an area of 888 square miles, this Marine Protected Area is a habitat for 16 different species of whales and dolphins, as well as ancient cold-water corals that have been thriving for up to a millennium.

Explore the UNESCO-listed colonial town. As you approach Lunenburg by sea, your eyes will immediately be drawn to the picturesque waterfront, adorned with charmingly colorful buildings. This UNESCO World Heritage Site has remained remarkably preserved since its days as a British colonial settlement in the 1700s.

Wander through the Old Town streets, immersing yourself in the maritime ambiance that lingers here. If you're inclined to explore on two wheels, consider renting a bicycle to enjoy the town's scenic bike trails.

Discover america's easternmost city and the Old Sow Whirlpool. Today, we'll journey from Canadian waters into the United States to explore Eastport on Moose Island. Known for boasting the deepest natural harbor on the eastern seaboard, this region holds a rich history. Archaeologists suggest that the indigenous Passamaquoddy people inhabited this area for over 10,000 years before the arrival of Europeans in 1604.

As you wander through the downtown district, perusing its shops, restaurants, and cafes, you'll sense the resonating echoes of history all around you. Weather permitting, local lobster fishermen may offer excursions to witness 'Old Sow,' a whirlpool believed to be the largest in the Western Hemisphere, named for the 'squealing' sound it is said to emit as it swirls.

Tonight, we'll drop anchor near the town of Castine, where you can uncover the remarkable aquatic world of bioluminescent phytoplankton. You might even have the chance to witness this incredible natural wonder up close while kayaking.

Explore 47,000 acres of natural beauty and wildlife in Maine. Prepare for an extraordinary day as we arrive in Bar Harbor, Maine. This charming coastal town is brimming with quintessential 'Down East' charm, and you simply must savor a meal at one of its exceptional seafood restaurants.

Bar Harbor serves as the gateway to the magnificent Acadia National Park. This sprawling landscape encompasses gently sloping mountains and lush forests, providing a habitat for a diverse range of wildlife, including white-tailed deer, moose, black bears, and over 300 species of birds.
